You would be shocked if you ever saw the damage caused to an adult, while involved in a slow speed car road traffic accident. Unrestrained passengers will more than likely hit the windscreen, or worse go through it. Imagine how much worse it would be for a baby. The likelihood and a child being flung from a back seat, straight through the front window. Not a very nice thought is it?
In our vehicles and unfortunately sometimes through our own ignorance of car safety seats and the UK law governing children travelling in vehicles. Diva Driver has looked into these two areas for you and given you guidelines on the correct seat for your child and an outline on the UK law on child safety.
One of the golden rules when acquiring a safety seat for your child is, NEVER PURCHASE SECOND-HAND. There are several safety risks involved in purchasing second-hand. Firstly, you will not know the full history of the seat. For example it could have been involved in an accident and therefore been weakened and unable to protect your child should you have an accident. You may also be unaware if it complies with British Safety Standards. Some parts may be missing, such as the full fitting instructions or even part of the fittings itself!.
